Nourishing your skin this winter

Winter Skin? We've got you covered.

As the winter season approaches, the air becomes colder and drier, which can have a significant impact on your skin. The colder weather conditions can lead to changes in your skin's texture, tone, and hydration levels. In this blog, we will discuss some of the changes that occur and how to take care of your skin during winter and the cooler months.

Dryness

One of the most common changes to your skin during winter is dryness. The cold air outside and the heated air inside can lead to a loss of moisture in your skin, making it feel dry and tight. To combat dryness, use an body oil or cream that is rich in natural ingredients, we recommend our Blue Tansy and Mandarin Body Oil. Applying your body oil or cream immediately after bathing or showering can also help lock in moisture.

Flakiness

Dryness can also cause flakiness, where small white or grey patches of dead skin appear on the surface of your skin. Exfoliating regularly can help remove these flakes and promote cell turnover. However, it's important to choose a gentle exfoliator that doesn't irritate your skin. We love dry brushing as a gentle alternative, particularly during pregnancy when your skin can be extra sensitive. Plus it also makes it a little easier to get to those hard to reach places due to your growing bump.

Redness and Irritation

The cold air can cause your skin to become irritated and inflamed, leading to redness and sensitivity. This can be exacerbated by the use of harsh soaps, fragrances, or other skincare products. To avoid this, opt for gentle, fragrance-free products that are designed for sensitive skin. We recommend our Blue Tansy & Mandarin Body Oil, or Blue Tansy & Rosehip Pregnancy Oil to combat redness and irritation. The combination of these vitamin rich oils will hydrate and nourish your skin deep within the dermal layers while Blue Tansy will soothe and calm irritated skin. Cracking and Chapping

The cold weather can also cause your skin to crack and chap, especially in areas like your lips, hands, cuticles, heels and feet. To prevent this, use a balm that contains natural ingredients like Jojoba oil, Seabuckthorn fruit and Calendula. We recommend our Blue Tansy & Calendula Soothing Balm. Using the balm throughout the day on lips and cuticles and on hands and feet of a night after showering will ease the irritation and cracking in skin and really soak  in to keep skin soft and nourished.

Dullness

Finally, the lack of sunlight during winter can cause your skin to appear dull and lacklustre. To brighten up your complexion, try using a serum packed with skin loving vitamins along with a hydrating toning mist and face oil. These types of products can help stimulate collagen production and improve your skin's texture and tone. We recommend our Blue Tansy & Hyaluronic Hydrating Face Mist, a beautiful face mist to tone and prepare your skin for the day, used throughout the day to keep hydrated and glowing and of an evening combine it with our Blue Tansy Rejuvenating Face Oil to deeply nourish, hydrate and replenish your skin.

The changes in your skin during winter can be challenging, but with the right skincare routine, natural and effective products and consistency, you can keep your skin healthy and hydrated all season long. Be sure to use gentle, natural products that are designed for your skin type and remember to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Glowing skin starts from within.
